322738:):):):):):):):):) That is the first signed jersey I have everseen with Oklahoma KId. I could only go off of a baseball. I would really like to see a much better picture of the jersey. Close up of the Mickey and a close up of the Oklahoma Kid.
I can tell you that it will bring a fortune in an auction.

Close up. That is a little better, not sure why the other is so small.

Tell us why:) I only went off the the autograph on the ball. If you see something wrong I would be interested.
When I went up there with my opinion I did not know that background on the jersey. I know that the Jersey is from the late seventies it is not from the Mitchell and Ness collection. I could be 100 percent wrong. I just need someone to tell me why.

The jersey is probably from the 90's . I had the same one I bought new in the 90s.

The jersey is made by mirage and they stopped making them in the 1981. That is info that I read.

Shelly, it looks like it took the person 15 minutes to sign that, gingerly copying a real Mantle autograph.

I would agree except it is on a jersey. It takes time to sign and not have it bleed. I am on the fence. I would like to see what Chris and Zipper have to say.
I am not saying your wrong I am just interested in a few people that I know have knowledge of Mantle to speak up.
Once I was told the story on the Jersey I have my doubts on my own opinion.

I appreciate the vote of confidence, Shelly. But I would not venture to offer an opinion on this.

The nature of fabric itself lends to slow, plodding signatures even in authentic examples. Secondly, how difficult would it be to lay a white jersey down on a light table and trace a signature?

It is close enough that it could be real in my opinion. But I don't know how anyone could say so with a high degree of certainty given the factors I mentioned previously.

Is there anyone in the hobby that ever sat next to Mantle and watched him sign a bunch of jerseys? If that person exists, he or she may have some insight in the nuances of Mantle's signature on fabric.

As a buyer, this may be a case where you have to trust the source. Unimpeachable, rock solid provenance would be helpful. :)

Shelly - Just to play devils advocate, just because the jersey is from the 1970s doesn't mean it was signed in the 1970s. Real or not, it could be an original, old stock jersey that was signed in the 1990s.

Mirage still made jerseys in the 90s

Nineties or not. If it is a forgery it is a dam good one. I have seen Mantle sign 24 jerseys at a show at the Hilton Hotel in Vegas. It took a long time to just to stretch it so it could be signed. He ruined five of them because they bleed.
I will stick buy my gut feelings and say it is good.
It is almost impossible to sign fast on a wool jersey.

Every single item is a horrible forgery.

The thing I don't like about the jersey is the different styles of Ks between Mickey and Oklahoma. Maybe this is typical for him but it seems weird. Edited to add: I see some PSA/DNA ones on eBay that are written like that, so maybe he switched up his Ks. Still a weird practice.

There is no doubt that the items that where shown where all bad. I have know idea who that seller is. I just know that I went off of a picture. Some one comes on here and says this is what the seller of the jersey sold. Who is the seller of the jersey?

The Ruth on page 2 of this thread is the same Ruth in other thread by Babe3Ruth3 from the other day. Same cert number by the FHE. Here is Craig's List post....appears to be Brooklyn, NY or NY City...

That said... thoughts on the other items???

I'll play devil's advocate. A signature on a jersey is a little more difficult to sign than say a photo. I have a Jordan signed jersey....signed in front of me...that PSA wouldn't pass. I do not know Mantle's signature so I cannot opine. Just an FYI...
