Until recently I never took an interest in more difficult T206 backs.Reading up on the subject I easily found rankings on a rarity scale etc but could not find anything stating what the premium would be per different back. For example Hindu is "X" times more valuable then the most plentiful or basic back .Could you guys point me in the right direction for this info.
Also has the collecting /value of more difficult backs remained strong over the last 10-15 years? How about the more "middle ground" backs?
Thanks for any info.
Happy 4th!
Scott

There is a ton to this question. Massive articles have been written and there are tons of threads on this site concerning the topic; I think you should start by searching old threads. The one substantive item I will mention is that it’s not just backs, but the front/back combo. For example, old mill is not a particularly rare back, but some poses with an old mill back are extremely rare; same goes with cycle 460 and even the SC 350, 25. Opposite goes with certain rarer backs. For example, Red Hindu is s very rare back, but it is not too uncommon to see a McGraw or Duffy with that back. Bottom line, before you but a card just for the back, consider the relative rarity of the front/back combo.

Thanks for that info. Not so simple as just figuring a back is x more times value.More in of to research..thanks.

T206 is a wonderful black hole - it is indeed “The Monster”

That is a great article. I’d never seen it before. And to think I spend most of my free time on PSA’s website and somehow overlooked it. Thanks for that link.

I usually send people this article by SReader when they ask a question of this kind...http://t206resource.com/Article-T206Resource-Revisiting-T206-Back-Multipliers.html

Those prices seem really low.

Those figures are for commons. And they probably are low. I’ve found SMR to be somewhat conservative compared to PSA’s auction prices realized, not just commons but across the board.

Depends- when you are buying from a dealer, you can’t use SMR because those prices are low. But if you are selling to a dealer, SMR reflects the proper value and your card is worth 70%-80% of SMR.... it all depend who you ask and what side of the transaction you are on. ;)

SMR is utter bullshit.

I think SMR is pretty useless for T206s. Way easier to just use cardtarget and look at past sales

Why doesn't PSA adjust SMR then if the Prices are Off?

I am sure somebody has complained to them.

What is the Point of Making a Price Guide if it is Not Accurate?
