Jose Uribe 1990 Fleer card going for big bucks. Is it being used for money laundering?
I'm not much on conspiracy theories, just thought this was fun in a National Enquirer sort of way.

Who knows? I have heard of weirder things that were actually true.

Till one sells, it's just a joke. Free listing specials always bring these out.

A lot made out of nothing.

Probably someone did it as a joke, someone else saw it and copied it and it snowballed. Or it's an inside joke among a few guys.

I saw this months ago and didn't look deeper at the time, thinking it was a bunch of idiots playing around. I just looked and there were still a lot of ridiculous asking prices and more that were closer to "normal", but a lot that were small amounts too. I got to thinking...How many have actually sold and for what amounts?

Look at the sold listings for this card and prepare to be amazed at how easy it is to fool the masses! Assuming any of these are real sales, dozens have sold for a few bucks each and upwards of $20-30 sometimes.

Is it that easy to capture our attention these days? I suppose I can pick a random junk card, list it on eBay at an absurd price with a creative description acting sincerely like I expect to sell it for that price, float the listing across a number of online card sites to advertise the absurdity and stir up the conversation. Heck, look at the attention Jason Mars (sad I even know the name) got for his Wagner find!

SAD!

This has been a thing for a while now. I know it's been over a year at least. My theory is it started as an inside joke among friends and ballooned. There's a video on youtube of a guy with 50 cases of '90 Fleer ripping packs until he finds one. He's so genuinely excited when he finds it that it's actually a great video. I think I'll add a PSA 10 to my collection at some point as I've gotten a lot of enjoyment out of this whole thing.

50 cases? I would think it would take far less than 50 packs, lol.

Yeah, either that guy isn't married or he has the best wife in the world. There is no middle ground.

Man would 50 cases be fun to rip and it wouldn't make a dent in the amount available.
