Wow. Nice spread. Funny, I just put some cards in a box this week for the first time ever. Feels weird not having them with me but no doubt more secure.

Nice collection...the sad thing is, I had everyone of those at one time or another. If I kept them all, I would be card rich and cash poor though.

Thanks guys. Steve I’m with you. After I bought the Mantle I felt like I had to do something. I’ll miss being able to easily pull them out from time to time.

It's ridiculous that Bartirome is in that collection of cards!

Tell me about it! I was sick having to pay what I did for that card. But I’m working on a 52 set so had to bite the bullet.

Thank you for the kind words everyone!!!!!!!

What, putting them in a paper sack and shoving them under your bed doesn't make you feel safe??? Lol, great lot of cards!

I was in my annual mood to resort my collection from player to year/issue this morning, so snapped a few photos. You're right, the sight of all those cool cards at once is a pretty awesome feeling. I don't know how you could part with yours by putting them in a safety deposit box. I gotta look at my babies at least once a month. Of course you probably sleep better at night knowing they're safe.

Ha I can’t part with it. I actually just added his companion a couple of weeks ago... ‘32 u.s. caramel ruth psa 7. Haven’t mustered the courage to tell the wife her “new car money” somehow disappeared!

I love seeing groups like that great stuff guys. As for the "box" I got one a few years back and have about 20-30 cards stored. Had to do it when I felt I had enough $ tied up in those few that it would really hurt if they were to burn or walk. I have scans of them all and it's only about 2 miles from my house so I can see them whenever the urge gets strong.

I actually bought a five-foot tall fireproof safe that I store them in, along with some weaponry. Supposedly it’s fireproof anyway. I’d hate to ever see it put to the test. I figure it’s better than storing them in a brown paper bag under the bed!

Jason that’s an incredible collection!

I think I might go the fireproof gun safe route as well but I have logistics to figure out. I’m hoping the safe deposit box isn’t a long term thing.

a tad off-topic but I need to follow up on Insurance.
I know folks say cards are insured to & from shipping and etc.
I just like to have the extra assurance they are protected and what steps that are needed to follow and whats the best?

I have four safety deposit boxes filled with my best cards, which I've all scanned, so I can look at them whenever I like. It's inconvenient and pricey, but I sleep better. I also noticed the 1952 Topps card of Tony Bartirome, who looks out of place next to all those aces and heavy hitters. But I recall that one of his relatives is hording his cards, so it's probably a great investment.

Awesome collection!

Invested in safety deposit boxes and insurance years ago and it has given me a lot of peace of mind knowing my items are safe and sound.

Thanks Scott. I’m pretty envious of that ‘52 Mantle of yours. I couldn’t make out the grade, but looks to be in the 4-6 range?

Insurance is definitely something I need to consider at some point. Kind of like an art collector. I keep saying I’m gonna look into it, but haven’t yet. Anyone know how to go about getting a card collection insured? What about cost?

First of all, those pictures of your guys' collections just warms my heart. Awesome pictures!

Secondly, I'd recommend one of these 2 companies for insurance. I use ACNA, but they're basic coverage plan does not cover insurance if I sell a card and send it to someone. The key is to thoroughly read the list of coverages to determine which plan is for you. You might also find previous threads on here with a few searches.

Not one of his relatives, just a fraudster masquerading as one.

Thanks Jason. It’s actually a 1.5 that has a 4 front but a few spots of paperloss on the back.

Thanks CW for the insurance info. It’s something I need to look into as well. Standard homeowners I assume does not cover right? Need some kind of rider to your policy I suppose.

Yes, your standard homeowners might carry a trivial amount of coverage based on the cardboard porn you have shown. :) Your homeowners carrier would add the extra coverage, but I believe their prices are quite high compared to ACNA and CIS.

Highly recommend Collect Insure. Not that I've had to file a claim, but they are very easy to deal with and from what I know, very cheap.

The cards, no, but I do own a very similar rug.

I make a copy of each card on my printer/scanner/copier on good photopaper then cut out the card life size and put that copy in my album before i put stuff in a safe deposit box. The copy looks exactly like my card, with every crease, etc. Works great!!

Great scans from the safe. Nice selection of cards.
Having kept my first (and more expensive) collection in a safe deposit box I skipped the insurance. I always say do what makes you sleep better at night.
