Hi guys. I picked up this photo on the weekend. Not in the best condition but the image presents nicely. Pretty certain it is from an original negative but having a hard time trying to determine when it may have been printed. I feel it's 50's or earlier, that is only based on other dated photos that i have.
Tough to tell from just a scan but does anyone see anything that tells you it would be later? I could not load higher res scans on this site.

Thanks

The tone of the back is a fair indicator of age, as the backs generally get darker the older they are. Side by side comparison is important. You can even compare to your family photos.

As far as proving it's from the 1930s, the presence of silvering in the image would be great. That's a sure sign of a photo being old.

Also, get a blacklight, as that is good at identifying photos made in the 1950s and later.

But with some photos you won't be able to pinpoint the exact year/period, but it is good and important to be able to know that it's old. Thus, ruling out that it isn't modern is helpful.
