I've never been that into backs, particular T205's, but just picked up a few AB lots on eBay this past weekend and was surprised that they were priced with no premium (or even priced at a slight discount of PB's, SC's, etc). Also, these were black AB's which I believe are more scarce than the greens. Is it safe to assume that this was not an anomaly and there should be no premiums for anything other than Hindu, Drum, BL, and maybe P42's for T205s?

I'm finding that AB Blacks are easier and cheaper than the greens, and carry a 2x premium.

For AB Blacks, maybe 1.5x at most.

T205 PD 42s get no love anymore. Used to be a 3x premium. Now, more like 1.5x, if even that.

In fact, there's an SGC 30 PD42 common on eBay right now for $30 shipped, and it's been sitting there for 2 days.

LOL. Check out the last LOTG Auction. AB t205' are not commanding crap for premiums.

AB Greens are tougher than black.

sterlingfox has no clue what he is talking about either.

I'm agreeing with you that Greens are tougher.

What, precisely, did I say that is inaccurate?

A grouping of 3 AB Greens sold for $150 on LOTG. All were SGC 40. With common backs, those are $25 cards, so a 2x premium seems about right to me. An SGC 55 sold for $84, and a group of two SGC 60s sold for $306. There is definitely a premium for AB Greens, but if 2x is your definition of "crap", then you are correct.

Some buffoon flooded the market throwing all the AB backs into one auction. I would think some players are tougher than others, but there seemed to be no rhyme or reason to the lots. He should have Taken a lesson from the Lucky 7 find.

Thanks Dmitry! I usually wouldn't do such a thing but I went ahead and picked up that card on eBay... one of the last thirty commons or so that I need for the set. Would not have made the purchase if you called dibs lol.

Nice pickup! I already have my T205 PD 42 type card (on Ed Walsh), so I couldn't really use it.

I also just saw a terrible looking SGC 40 AB Green common sell for $60 within minutes of being posted. The premium is definitely there, and if it didn't look awful, I would've bought it myself.

The premium can be there, but it's certainly hit or miss. I think as a whole T205 back multipliers are way less consistent than T206 multipliers.

On the mid tier T205 backs, like AB, PD 42 and Cycle, I totally agree. Hit or miss on the amount of premium, but definitely still a premium anywhere from 1.25x to 2x.

Sovereigns also seem to have virtually no premium anymore (maybe 10%?).

On the really rare stuff (Broadleaf/Hindu/Drum), it's consistently expensive (10x+ for BLs and 30x-50x or more for the other two) and EXTREMELY hard to locate.

Unless you have a Hindu or Drum I am probably not paying a premium as I am not doing any kind of T205 mfg master set. I picked this lot of AB's up in the last LOTG auction and needed 2 for my collection (of fronts). If they were Piedmont or Sweet Cap I would have bid the same thing, but that is just me and others mileage may vary. They were $56 each before shipping....

btw, it is rare that I find 2 mid grade cards that meet my specs in a 3 card lot, very rare.

If anyone has a nice VG to VG/EX graded AB Green T205 common for $50 - $75, please let me know.

I still need one as a type card.

The AB Green comment was for Tyler.

Pick and chose if you want. Some are super tough FB combos and should command a premium ie: Matty, Cobb, Evers, Tinker, Chase, Barger Full B, ect. Other than that AB's have always stayed within 10-15% of normal. The SGC 60's you speak of are Super nice cards and sold for what a high end 5 would have.

Leon that is a super nice group you got there. Congrats.

Ted maybe the cosigner of the cards wanted other cards and stuff. Either way all this group did was solidify that T205's are down regardless of backs.
