Thank You Terrier8HOF. Imagine that, Mullings the luddite actually posted a
photo. Don't tell anyone it took me 2 months!
I have 2 autograph pictures of Dave Winfield and one of Mickey Mantle that I will post to get opinions on. if they look good, then I will get them authenticated when I go to the Toronto Expo card show in May

This photo is good.

If you are told they are good, why would you want to spend money on getting them authenticated? If you are going to be selling them then I understand, but if you are keeping them, it makes no sense TO ME to spend money on a cert. I would prefer to spend that money on more stuff

Yes it is a good point, but, I will be downsizing my collections and concentrating
on certain rookie cards. At least what I consider rookie cards.
what is your opinion on this Mantle?

Very nice authentic Mantle. I also agree with Mark. It's better to use the money for authentication fees to buy ore stuff. If the cost were 10 or 20 bucks to get the items authenticated I would say go for it, but it's very expensive.

Thanks everyone for your opinions. I have never had anything authenticated or graded and had no idea of the expense. I have only been a member since the new year and boy am glad I found this forum. A lot of knowledge and expertise.
If I could get your opinions on value, I would appreciate it. I will be downsizing my collection and this forum will be my first stop.
Thanks again

agree 100%. The Joe Dimaggio is 75-100$ to authenticate I think and the pic is not one of the best poses out there. photo probably worth 80-120 bucks max so why bother adding more $$$ to it? So you can give PSA & FU-Bay more of the profit. LOL. Enjoy it mullings, it a good one!

What size is the Mantle and what medium is it on. is it an 18 x 24 poster? Ifsofatso about 175-225 IMHO. At least your ahead the game posting some good auto's!!!

If you want to sell them. Put in an auction. This way you don't have to pay the money to have it authenticated.:D

If you are going to be selling than I think CONSIDERING authentication makes sense if, and only if, the amount you will sell the item for, at a minimum, will make back when you spent on the cert.
So, let's take the Joe D
CERT fee $75 plus shipping back and forth(which is also really expensive IMO)
1)without cert it sells for $100
2) with cert it sells for at $200 then cert is worth it.
3) with cert it sells for $150 then is a waste of money.

If you are going to be selling, there are many here who are not slaves to the TPAs, so you might try to post some stuff in the BST first before resorting to Ebay. You save on the cert and the eBay fees.
