Here's an enlargement of a section of a Mordecai Brown snapshot I won in the last RMY auction. The stamped date on the back is 'May 2, 1916'. Another forum member said he had heard that the Cubs wore Federal League Whales uniforms during the first part of the year 1916, so perhaps that's what this represents.

Very cool Scott; nice pose. How bout posting the whole image.

Really like snapshots and they are starting to get expensive at least from my perspective.

Three Finger actually played for the Whales in 1915. Maybe the year was wrong. according to retrosheet he pitched a game at home on 5/2/15 but not on 5/2/16

I thought others might post some early baseball snapshots here, but since no one has, here's a formal invitation if you have any you want to share.

Here is a small snapshot I sold on ebay around ten years ago - got about $35 for it - whoohoo!

Scott,

Here's an early one (1915) of Honus that I've posted before...

That is a nice Earl Hamilton, his signature is much tougher than his death date as you know!

This signed Earl Hamilton snapper was a 2017 pickup and I'm very happy to have not missed it at the time.

Scott - Amazing - Nap Rucker could pull out the same look in time even for a snapshot!! I also love the Newark Walter Johnson.

Adam - I know Luke Easter's grandson (he's my insurance agent!) and I look out for Easter stuff for him. If you are interested in selling, let me know and I'll hook you two up.

Where does one look to start a collection such as this? What ebay search terms - vintage baseball snapshots?

Thanks.

Great shots everyone and a fun thread. Here's Reds catchers Ernie Lombardi & Willard Hershberger at Crosley Field.

I'm a HUGE fan of the mid-to-late 1930's Cincinnati Reds teams and the Vander Meer, Hershberger and Lom & Hershy snap shots are really great to see.

Since this is a snapshot thread, I though it might be a good place to post a particular snapshot that I've been trying to track down that sold at auction a few years ago. It is of Kent Greenfield, pitcher for the NY Giants, 1925. No superstar or anything earth-shattering, but I am planning to write a book on Greenfield and would really love to either buy the snapshot or at least get permission to use it in my book. In any case, it's a nice shot from the stands complete with Greenfield's wonderfully ornate signature.

What I've seen in this thread is amazing!

I only have one 'snapshot' to add...it's much smaller than what has already been shown, but it is my cousin Whitlow, so it's cool to me.

Good timing Scott, autographs can be found at a bargain price currently.

Here is a snapshot of Brooklyn Brown Dodger's Gibbie Meeks from Branch Rickey's short-lived negro United States Baseball League.

That's a beauty.

I have a fairly short list for autographs. The sports ones are definitely going down in price, but my non-sports 'needs' aren't working out. I have an Ott I was saving for the photo below, but if I spot a reasonably-priced Ike, I'll have to go after it.

I love this RPPC of Ott outside of Woolworths.

Very nice photo, especially with Mick's sig on it.

This one of my Uncle Sam and Mickey Mantle was taken at the 1958 World Series. It's the only photo I have.

Awesome snapshots! Here is one I recently acquired. The back says Wiggs?, McIntyre, Cobb, and others. Is this from the McIntyre scrapbook? I know most of the photos that came from there had writing on the black paper below each photo but did any have pencil writing like this on the reverse? If it is from that book, were most of the photos from 1905/06 or were some taken later?

Alan, I think you have a gem there. Most were from 1905 from what I remember. I still have a couple left from the original Rogers scrapbook dismemberment.
