I have collected several autographed baseballs over the years, almost all in person. Because the autographs are often illegible scribbles, I try to get a card autographed at the same time. That way I can match the scribble on the ball to the scribble on the card and thereby ID the ball.

I find myself with six balls without matching cards. I can read the signatures on two of them (Blue Moon Odom and Marty Marion) but the other four I am struggling with. Can anyone suggest who these four players are? Here are the four autographs:

Thanks! I have ordered a Dustin Ackley card on eBay to go with the ball.

Second one looks to be former Pirate Ed O’Brien.
He’s on the 1954 Topps card with his brother and teammate John.

By golly, you're right. I have that card with the faux signatures. The signature on the ball is more compact but I am sure this is it. I met Ed in the John at Safeco Field during a Hutchinson Awards event.

I thought the number 3 picture looked familiar, but couldn’t place it.
Then I turned my phone upside down :)

Your picture is upside down and is Jason Giambi.

Eric, you make me feel silly. I got the Giambi auto at a Hutch function and obtained an autograph on one of his cards at the same time. His auto is like some modern art-- it looks better upside down. Of course, when I turn the ball right side up the card and ball match. Obviously, I have poor spatial perception! Thanks for your help.

Jeff, Curt - thanks for the ID. I looked at the samples on eBay and it clearly is Michael Young. I think I won this in a silent auction, no card, so I will order one to match. Thanks for your help.
