$45,000 was the final hammer on this A7 thru MEARS. Does anyone know of any photos or evidence of Babe actually using a Hanna Bat? I know of the photo of Gehrig but am curious to any other data showing his usage of these bats.
The batwing logo is awesome though!

What I have never understood is why game use is worth additional points - why does the fact that someone used the bat at some time contribute anything to the authentication

The added value is because it was used in actual games, held or worn by the actual player, and is part of Baseball History.

I was unclear - game use can happen to a bat in a church league by a ten year old kid - I meant why does game wear make it anymore likely that babe Ruth used the bat
If the bat was in mint condition, with no ball marks, then it would sell for much less.

Because often there are tell-tale signs of specific player use, rather than a random 10 year old. Cleat marks on the barrel, paint from bat racks, ball marks grouped together all in one place, pine tar (or no pine tar), handle grip/tape, etc.
