I was just looking at the PSA Pop report and noticed something VERY interesting.

Under 1961 Fleer Baseball PSA/DNA section.......there is a very rare signed pop 1 listed.

Babe Ruth!!!!!!!!!

If they actually slabbed this card as signed that is quite frankly unbelievable but the fact that no one has caught this on their pop report is also very strange.

Here is the link:

https://www.psacard.com/pop/baseball-cards/1961/fleer/36726

This link brings you to the main page for 1961 Fleer. First click on the PSA/DNA tab for the signed versions and then scroll down to card #75 and it clearly lists it as a PSA/DNA 5!!!???!!!!!????!!!!

Wow!

Peace, Mike

It's possible that it was signed by Mrs. Babe Ruth. I've seen cards signed by her (as Mrs. babe Ruth, not babe Ruth). They just don't have a separate category for cards signed by others. It still falls into the PSA/DNA category. Like sometimes I have seen Pete Rose sign Ty Cobb cards.

Randall,

I had not heard of that but thanks for the possible explanation.

Darren,

Good luck getting that 1973 card signed by all 3 as I hear Aaron and Mays are tough! :) :) :)

Peace and Happy New Year!

Yes, but when PSA lists a card as being signed they don't have a category for WHO signed it. The category is just PSA/DNA meaning the card is autographed. 99.999% of the time a card is autographed by the person on the card. But since Ruth died in 1948 and the card came out in 1961 the owner maybe wanted Ruth's wife to sign her name since Babe was already dead. PSA would have authenticated the card as an authentically signed Mrs. babe Ruth card. But when listing all the 1961 Ruth cards it just falls into the "signed" category because it was signed.
