There us an image on the MOMA website of an n172 Egyptian Healy card that does not match any of the poses shown in Miller, Gonsowski and Masson's book. Is the player mis-identified on the card? It sure looks like him (based on his other cards).

The link is to the museum collection, and I have tried to upload a scan of the card.

Paul,

Nice post.

Ok, how many of you are going to admit to searching "The" OJ book?

Pose 218-3, the name is also spelled HEALY (which apparently is correct) and the picture in the original post seems to be from the same series of pictures as the 218-3 shown in "The" OJ book.

Pretty cool....!

My avatar is John Healy, but not "Egyptian" John Healy

Good observation. I found that card after the book was published. That pose is now listed as 218-6: Pitch, R/hand face high. The card is of Egyptian Healy, not the other John Healy in the set.

Is there a list of new finds since the book came out that we can print about and insert?

Nothing has been put together showing the new poses. Perhaps one day we will do an update.

Is the card authentic? Only asking because of the crackling effect on the front looks like what reprints have.

Definitely real.

Hello Paul,

I'm late to the party, nice catch. Our study of the Burdick collection while writing the book pre-dates the Met sharing digital images so it was a bit rushed. The Met N172 and N173 images are now completely online and allow a closer and more thorough study.

All the Best,

Leon
