I thought the Harwood collectors might be interested in this 1870 article about making a baseball. Sorry if it is well known, but I had not seen it before.

Jonathan, no link, I have the article, I don’t think it is online. It is on pages 187-88 of the March 19,1870 issue of Our Boys and Girls Oliver Optic magazine. As an aside there is other baseball content I. This year, but a tremendous amount of baseball in the 1869 issues.
I will try again to put the photos up or send them to you with an email.
