He was the very best at what he did!

Agreed. I loved it when he "threw" out the first pitch at the World Series game this year. As Joe Buck said, "Vin lied, he still has his fastball". Very true!

Another great American patriot who gets absolutely apoplectic and outraged when someone wants to use their freedom of speech to express an opinion different from his.

Apoplectic and outraged? Right.

I'm not of fan of Vin Scully (just another announcer to me) and I think he is misguided on the anthem controversy, but to say he got apoplectic over it is a bit much. He was asked his opinion and he gave it. In short, he exercised his freedom of speech just like the kneelers.

This. I love Vin. I disagree with him on the anthem protest. But I was in the audience when asked about this. He was anything but apoplectic. To state he was is just ridiculous.

He's entitled to his view; I disagree with it. Doesn't diminish my respect for the man one iota. He will always be the voice of baseball for me.

Happy birthday, Vin.

And I utterly, completely, 100% agree with your view. Well said, my man.
