What do you guys think? I don't see a rare back or anything on this. Is this really just a PSA 1 common that went for that price? What am I missing on this?

I hate to keep quoting P.T. Barnum...

At least this appears to been an original T205.

This same seller has some real nice graded reprints and has stickers with $200 for the T206 Wagner and $100 for the Leaf Ruth.

These reprints are graded '10' by a mysterious grading service (probably the seller himself) and the item titles use 'rp' only to indicate it is a reprint.

I saw the reprints... it does look like he's honest about them at least. Still don't understand how the T205 card went for anything north of $20.

This beauty is a reasonable $115. Seems to me the "All Gold $1,500" sticker might've done it's job as an "anchor" of sorts....

Actually, it appears that there might be 4 suckers born every minute, as there were 4 different IDs that bid north of $100 on this. The mind boggles...

I don't follow the T205's and I only have a couple but there is usually an
explanation for a card that brings a premium. Looking at the rest of the Murphy
T205's on ebay I didn't see any with this white line between first
and second on them is this a variation?

I'm pretty sure that white line is the result of the gold border around the diamond simply being off-register.

It was just a guess on my part but if it's a shift I would think the gold border should be over the black lines on the left side.

I think it's a shift too but good eye and you may be correct!

If that was a thing people here would know about it.

Just because it's not publicized doesn't mean people don't know about it. Remember last year when the T206 Polar Bear back with IE in series was missing went for like $600?
And then three or four different guys said, "Oh, yeah, we've been picking those up for cheap, but now the secret's out!"

I wish my cards that look like that, brought that much :(....

Possibilities:

1. Stupidity
2. Shenanigans
3. Errant bidding (11.34 bids as 111.34)
4. Us t 205 collectors now have much more valuable collections (lol I wish)

I took a hard look at the idea of a variation. I see none. The color shift to that degree is common in 05s and commands no premium unless very pronounced.

Doesn’t look like a color shift to me. One side of the Baseball diamond has an extra white line. A shift would be universal on all sides.

Search the card on google images. They all look like that, it's a shift in the gold diamond border. Nothing special.

I was a little intrigued by this and looked around at Murphy cards this past week. It seemed to me that a great of chunk of the cards I’ve seen have the white line. I’d guess around 40% or so. Still have no clue how the seller got such a price for a common PSA 1.

I did some researching
The POP on this card is only 7
This is one of the rare crappy variations
of the card
Also a vintage OG PSA holder

I vote shenanigans. If only because I love that word lol.

..the "40" feedback guy has never bid on a baseball card in his chart ?? He stopped at $110 allowing the winner to steal it for $111..
