View Full Version : Why do all the auction houses have auctions at the same time?

It's auction season now (obviously) and just about every major sports auction house seems to have an auction that either just ended, or is currently running. This was following a 2 month period (or so) with very, very few major auctions running.

Is there any logic or rationale to this? For me I know that at times it means I have to prioritize which items I really want since I know that there's no way I can afford all the items that look interesting.

Is there any reason the auction houses do it this way?

I suppose when you get into a Winter, Spring, Fall cycle it's hard to break out of when you need several months between to acquire quality consignments. Actually i see a pretty nice spread across all seasons as Goodwin, MH, ML tend to have more offerings dates than just the major seasons.

Sure running major auctions in the summer is a lousy idea, as people are on vacation, leaving the country, just kicking back, etc.
