Friend of mine just found a handful of vintage press photos with interesting content/history... first is dated 6/1/39 and has Lou gehrig and Mccarthy.believe it was the date the yanks announced his retirement). Second is really cool: babe taking a hack in 1935 spring training while dizzy dean looks on...

I'm not a photo guy, but I'm looking for some input as to value.

Many thanks,
Dave

Dave, do you have a full picture of the back? Any picture service stamping??

They both look genuine. Value is the second question others could chime on.

Valuing photos is very hard. If genuine, perhaps somewhere between $350 - $700 each one. Seem the first one many times, not the second. But pretty ordinary as far as Ruth and Gehrig photos go (i.e., not historic action shots, not portraits).

There was service photo stamping in the reverse of all them, but I only took shots of the dates...

In terms of significance, the gehrig Mccarthy was dated the day that gehrig announced his retirement. The ruth Rupert was taken during his 1933 contract dispute, and the one posted here is off ruth taking batting practice prior in spring training prior to the 1935 season...

Someone on BST has listed 2 very similar pics for $500 and hasn't sold them yet.
