Does anyone know if there any reproductions of 1927 World Series tickets out there. I have a chance at buying a ticket to game 2 but am worried about any fakes being out there. --- E Smith

I don't know of any official reprints, but there are well done forgeries out there due to the popularity of the team. A very good high res scan would help for the ticket guys.

I've seen some repros of tickets but all of them also had repro signatures on them too. Like a Clemente signed 3000th hit stub. There were several others too.

Hi Edward,
Although I have collected vintage baseball tickets for many years, I am not an expert on vintage World Series tickets, since I don't collect them.
That being said, the ticket that you posted does appear to be vintage and quite possibly real.
Since I don't have it in hand, try removing it from the sleeve and do a sniff test.
Does it smell like old paper? Does the cardboard stock feel old to the touch?
Just curious, how did you come to own this ticket?

Based on the quality of color and print, the fact that it's Forbes Field and not Yankee Stadium, and I assume you have felt the creases and it feels like a vintage thicker stock cardboard with a real perforation at the top I think it's most likely real. As has already been mentioned, in hand it's a lot easier to tell.

Thanks, for the response. I got it from a guy in Philadelphia who sells a little of everything. It's currently in transit to me, so I haven't been able to make a more thorough examination of it yet.-----Edward Smith

It should be made of thick cardboard paper and it absolutely looks authentic.... Old World Series tickets have been my specialty area since 1998...I have never seen a repo 1927 World Series ticket from Pittsburgh... by the way the 1923 gm 1 ticket on eBay currently is a reproduction for around $1000. easily seen by the font... yours is good

Thanks for the responses, I'll know more once I get it. If you mean the orange 1923 ticket I'd have to agree, it looks terrible.----E Smith

IronHorse, It looks like my ticket has some of the same flaws in the 2 below RAIN CHECK as your ticket. And I'm definitely not a ship's captain, much less of the Titanic.---E Smith

Received the ticket today and it looks authentic to me. I was a bit worried about authenticity because of how much I paid.---Edward Smith
