I watched the fight as it was on normal cable. Although I thought that Horn acquitted himself better than the ring announcers gave him credit for, I certainly thought Manny dominated. How do we have such a chasm of judgement in a professional sport today?

The prevailing media opinion is that Horn was given the unanimous decision (a wide margin) by the hometown judges. I give the media about as much credence as the judges, but c'mon.

What did you see? Was Pac Man robbed or are we refusing to see what, in our hearts, we dont want to see? According to the stats, Manny hit Horn more oftern, but Horn hit Manny hard when he connected. Thoughts?

I thought Horn won 5 of the first 6 rounds and did enough in the last rounds to get by 7 - 5 (115-113). I could also have seen 115-114 if Pacquiao was given a 10-8 round. I could also see it a draw or 115-113 for Pacquiao. Punch stats can be misleading. Pacquiao may have connected more in most rounds but some of the rounds were very close in terms of connects, Horn was more active, and for quite a few rounds I thought Pacquiao's punches were mostly ineffective, at least until the 9th. Horn tossed him around readily, drove him back into the ropes and just generally seemed to overwhelm him and beat him up in several rounds. It was a very hard fight to score. I keep going back to something Max Kellerman (I think) says; who would you rather be at the end of the round? It reminded me of Joshua-Klitschko in the sense that the old guy hurt the young guy but could not find the last bit necessary to take him out, and the young guy got his youthful second wind.

He is one of my alltime favorite boxers, but it is time for Pacquiao to retire. His work rate, speed and lateral movement have markedly declined in the last few years. He would be dead meat if he was in with a current top 5 welterweight, he has no realistic chance of becoming a top fighter again, and he can only get damaged.

And we need cards in this thread

Always a good suggestion. Appreciate the analysis, gentlemen.
