Newly picked up and only 157 yrs old~~Copied over from the memorabilia section as a lot of board members probably haven't seen baseball Ambrotypes. They are quite scarce according to a few hobby friends who know about them and have handled some.

The ambrotype (from Ancient Greek: ἀμβροτός — “immortal”, and τύπος — “impression”) or amphitype, also known as a collodion positive in the UK, is a positive photograph on glass made by a variant of the wet plate collodion process. Like a print on paper, it is viewed by reflected light. - Wiki

Several months after this thread I ended up selling the ambrotype for a price of " I really, really don't want to sell it".....so I let it go. And today it returned to my collection. A good mail day with a 161 yrs. old baseball photo.
