Just sniped this on eBay. Wasn't expecting to win it but I did. Any idea as to the value of it? I paid 67 bucks. It's original film of Ruth supposedly. Thanks guys.

Look at the sellers previous sales of these. I have seen these being sold for a long time. He has sold 18 of these recently. They average about what you paid. Some sold for more and some sold for less than $50. They are neat items.

Square holes centered on the frame rather than between frames would be super-8 film, introduced in 1965. 16mm with only one row of sprocket holes should have a soundtrack or magnetic strip.

So it's not original, not even to the period.
It's probably six frames from a commercially produced highlights film, made by castle films, or "Official films" neither of which are all that valuable.

Lets see, 18 frames /second, X 60 seconds times 10 min average length.... 10,800 frames divide by six.. 1800 lots at $50 each, $900 not bad at all!
I should ask my friend who does films to keep an eye out for a badly damaged one I can get cheap.

I don't have a copy of that film, but I do have a 16mm copy of an earlier Ruth film that's pretty cool. I'll have to get him to make a digital transfer and post it sometime.

I remember watching those type short films as a kid on a little plastic projector(LOL) with a hand crank. Holding the projector down and turning the little hand crank at even close to the proper speed was a chore in it self.:)

DOH!

Yeah, I'll happily sell my complete Ruth film for half that :D I might even throw in a few other sports films.

Just search for "Babe Ruth film" and pick up one of the full versions.
That and a fairly nice super 8 projector will run under 100 for both, and you can actually watch it.
Or probably download it from youtube or somewhere.
