While at an antique store today I was looking at some bats and came across one that appears to be signed by Rogers Hornsby and dated 1958. It is on a 1950's Revelation Semi-Pro 35" bat. I know about Revelation bats because my parents owned a Western Auto Store in the 1950's and '60's. It looks good to me but thought I would get some other thoughts. The signature is pretty light.

Looks good to me Joe, awesome bat! Hope that you scooped it up!

Thanks, Dave. Yes, I did purchase the bat. The dealer had 3 other bats and all were priced the same ($20), so it wasn't a tough decision!

Despite the fading I think it's good as well. The year looks like his hand as well for others I have had. Heck of a pick up

Thanks, Jason. It just reinforces the idea, at least in my mind, that there are still undiscovered treasures out there. For me, the "thrill of the hunt" often eclipses the find. I have to admit, however, that in this case the find was pretty sweet.

He had 3 other bats signed by Hornsby?? I'd say you go back there and scoop those up as well!

No, the other two were not signed by anyone. One was actually a softball bat. They were basically worthless.
