I just ordered my 2017 Atlanta Braves Media Guide.

At this point, I'm kind of locked into purchasing each year's edition to keep the collection complete...this will be #51 (1966-present).

I also collect yearly Baseball Guides - first The Sporting News Version(1962-2006), then USA-Today Baseball Weekly(1992-2000) and finally BaseballAmerica (1993-present) - and I am similarly adding each new edition as they come out.

The supplier of the Media Guide stated what I have been dreading for a few years now...that the publisher would likely be going green sometime in the near future.

While my collections look good on the book shelves, I won't get much for them when I do decide to liquidate.

Yet another dilemma my spending habits have gotten me into.

I once had Weeb Ewbank's personal collection of NFL/AFL media guides for every year he was a head coach. It came from a collection from his estate. He was a bit of packrat and the collection included everything from NFL contracts and game program from his college playing days to beer coasters.

In my quest to buy everything from 2016 Cubs I purchased a media guide from that year.

I have over 700 team guides dating back to he 1930's. I also have a run of Spalding, Reach and TSN guides dating to the 1880's. I also have a like amount of pro football guides.

While a few NFL teams have gone "green" in recent years I doubt that the MLB teams will follow. The guides along with yearbooks are major sellers both at the stadium and on-line. Some NFL teams have gone to reduced numbers too, they are scarce. Most NFL teams issue a weekly game guide that is spiral bound and well over 200 pages, it is a "live" media guide that is constantly updated. These must keep the PR departments busy!

Having 81 home dates and souvenir shops throughout the stadiums make MLB guides very popular. I have to add that all 30 PR departments do a wonderful job with their guides too. The Yankees even make theirs available through Barnes & Noble as well as their yearbooks.

A few years ago I sold over 1,200 college football guides but still have around 500. I think as I move through my 60's I will start reducing my collection. I have a final project goal of having a guide from what I deem the top 75 college football programs for each year 1960-79. I may never complete it but they are great fun and they bring back some wonderful memories or growing up watching on Saturdays. If you have college guides from these years I might have a need!

I have all the Padres' media guides from 1969-2015, and just bought the 2016 and 2017 guides.

I also have all the San Diego Chargers media guides from 1960-2008. Apparently, the Chargers stopped issuing media guides at that point, as I have been unable to find any since 2008.

Additionally, I have most of the media guides for the San Diego Rockets, Sails, Conquistadors and Clippers of the NBA/ABA, along with the Gulls and Mariners of the old WCHL and WHA, and the Sockers of the NASL/MISL.

First 50 years of SF Giants and then 2011, 2013 and 2015 because they have some sort of World Champs cover. Same for yearbooks.

While a few NFL teams have gone "green" in recent years I doubt that the MLB teams will follow.

In 2010, the Mets offered flash drives with the media guide already loaded on them, price $15.

I collect Yankees media guides. I have most from 1961 on up. Need to start working on the 1950's.

I also have all of their yearbooks from 1950 to the early 2000's, but not every edition of each year yet.

I have a couple NY Islanders media guides from the 90's. Been wanting to pick up some from my other teams, Yankees, NY Jets and Knicks.

I collect Yankee media guides, yearbooks, and programs.

In regards to media guides, I need 1956 through 1959, 1962, 2016, and 2017. My understanding is their first media guide came out in 1955.

I also have 3 post season Yankee play-off media guides and need the rest and 6 World Series Yankee media guides and need the rest.

Hey Mike- I don't know if this helps or not but Barnes & Noble have the 2016 & 2017 Yankees guides for sale on their website at good prices.

Mike, thanks for the heads up. The prices are very good. Unfortunately they are out of the 2017 at the moment. I'm hoping they'll get some more later and I'll get them both at that time.
