It was sad to see that one of my favorite resource and research sources, BaseballReference.Com has become glutted with advertising, causing long search delays.

Then I saw what was inevitable...for $20/month, I can view the site without the Ads.

Truly a sad, sad day - what's next - pay-for-radio broadcasts?

I sure am glad I held on to all my yearly Baseball Guides (thank goodness for hardcopies of something).

Or you can use a Firefox browser with "ABP - Ad Blocker Plus" for free.

These reference sites have to pay the bills, so you can't really fault them for trying to get paid.

My favorite boxing site "Boxrec.com" went that route years ago, to the point I was consistently getting malware from their ads every time I used the site for research.

"ABP" cleaned it right up, and I was able to use the site effectively again.

Dave - thanks for the information.

- and I do understand the economics involved.

I just wish they had done it like Wikipedia...I 'donate' $50 every year.

Not sure that would work for SportsReference.Com but I'd prefer it that way...so that should change it...right?
