55 Years ago tonight, Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points in Hersey, Pennsylvania vs. the Knicks.

Over the years, about a million people have claimed they witnessed it.

Go ahead, speak up!

I just got home from the Hersheypark Arena. I work as a part time rink crew employee for Hershey Entertainment and Resorts. There is a really neat plaque commemorating this historic accomplishment by Wilt at the Arena. I work there again on Saturday for several High School(CPIHL) championship games. I will get a picture of the plaque and post it on Saturday night. Also, if you are wondering I do drive the Zamboni which is a nice fringe benefit of working there.

Duane

P.S. I am only 54 years old so I was not there the night Wilt scored 100 points.

Where you there
Were you here

I was about 32 years from being born. Still an incredible feat, no matter what that era of basketball was like.

I had a similar thought. Not even my parents would be old enough to answer this question definitively as they were still not even grade school age.

Why Thank You, Andy!

That's what I get for sharing. -just trying to impart some knowledge to you wiper-snappers (whatever those are).

FYI- 1.) I was six and already moved to GA by then

2.) I think the most amazing thing about the game that Wilt had was that the game's most notoriously bad free-throw shooter went 28-for-32 that night...truly magic was in the air!

I am trying to allow people to impart their stories to me which is why I read the thread even after knowing I couldn't contribute (other than bumping the thread). :D

+1.

Respect thy elders, and listen to their stories.

Oh, and my dad wasn't even born yet (I think my mom was just born, or 1 year old). :p

OK- what's the over-and-under for this thread reaching the overly appropriate 100 posts? UGH!

Here is the picture commemorating Wilt scoring 100 points. This picture is on the wall of Lobby 1 as you enter Hersheypark Arena.

If my memory serves me right, I think there were 17 fouls called against Knicks trying to guard Wilt. Both their centers fouled out and in the fourth quarter I believe Knicks fans were given the opportunity to try to guard him.

I was born too late to have been there. But, I was in attendance in New Orleans when Pete Maravich scored 68 against the Knicks. Oh, if there had been a three point shot for the Pistol in his prime...
