I'm accused of being a charter member in the $20 Collector club. Please join me so that one day we will have the respect of collectors who buy big-boy cards for thousands of dollars and think they are of higher character/integrity than us.

Price of membership is to identify the best valued card for $20:

1971 topps PSA 6 Steve Garvey

I am definitely in the $20 club.

For me the best $20 card is a raw mint 1989 Fleer Bill Ripken F Face error. Has to be the most well known card in the hobby plus it says F*CK FACE on it.:D

Count me in as your typical "$20 collector". I enjoy the hobby on the low end and am perfectly happy with my collection.

I very rarely spend over $200 on a single card.

Here is a recent $20 pickup of mine.

Count me in! I'm still trying to decide what to spend the $140 on that I stashed away for the centerpiece of my collection. As it is, none of my cards break three digits.

Here's a recent pickup. Chuck Klein, $12.

I'm at work and am unable to post pictures of either card, but I wanted to stamp my membership ASAP, as this is my kind of club!

My qualifying entries that I couldn't decide between...

1960 Fleer Ted Williams PSA 3

1947 Bond Bread Bobby Doerr RAW

I didn't choose the $20 Collector life... The $20 Collector life chose me.

I have an $18 bid pending right now at Mile High. I would tell you what it is but I can't out my winning auction. Cool card.

My $20 bargain bin is the hardest thing to keep stocked. It has contained 60's Mantles, Walter Payton and Joe Montana rookies and dozens of tobacco cards. Maybe I need to start a $20 dealer club! You guys are the bread and butter of the hobby, not the $20,000 guys.

Can I count stuff bought years ago?

Counting the grading fees I think I'm right at $20 for the pair.

Maybe a little bonus or two?

Nice!

I picked these up for $20 back in the summer from a local card shop who strictly deals in hockey. Do the exchange rate thing, and these were less than $15 American. :D

I lucked into this Grover years go on ebay. I think it was an auction if I remember right for like 10 bucks plus probably near 10 bucks shipping (I think it came from Canada). No one else bid!

I lucked out, there is no doubt about it, RM. When I went into the shop looking for supplies, I just happened to ask the owner if he had any BB.
He grabbed a box that a guy traded for some low value hockey cards and the owner said to me, I am not sure why I did this?

I went through them, grabbed the cards that were in decent shape or knew the players and asked him how much? He started at $40, we went back and forth until he came to $20.

My only regret, and although I would have paid more, is I didn't grab them all.

I went back 2-3 days later but they were gone. The remaining cards were mostly "team" cards, with a few other rough players thrown in.

This one qualifies. If I do decide to sell it sometime down the road, do you guys think that I should divulge that some restoration work has been done to the card?

Don't worry about the restoration work that has been done. What you should be doing immediately is getting that card in a PSA slab! I heard it somewhere, not sure where, that cards sell for more in a PSA slab. ;)

Thanks - purchased it about 6 or 7 years ago. Have always wanted to crack and resubmit, but just never got around to it
