View Full Version : Question on selling through ebay / paypal
I just sold a card on ebay for the princely sum of $14.50. Paypal then notified me that I had received full payment and I should ship out my card, which I did. I later went to paypal's website (to pay a board member for a much nicer card) and noticed that I only received $13.78 for my card. I don't think the buyer shortchanged me. Paypal told me I had received full payment for my card. Are ebay and paypal now deducting fees directly from my payments? Any other ideas as to what's going on? I don't really care much about the 72 cents at issue here, but would like to know if ebay and paypal have a new policy of taking money away from me. Thanks.
Never mind. I just found the "purchase details" link and see I was charged a 72 cent fee by paypal. I assume that's in addition to the fees that ebay reports to me in a monthly invoice.

Welcome to the rip off that is Pay Pal...or Ebay. :)

You are correct. Paypal takes their cut right away and Ebay will hit you up later with what you owe them.

That's the way it's always been.....PP takes 2.9% + 30 cents right off the top....then you'll owe eBay $1.45 come invoice time.

The lack of transparency bugs me, too. At least be honest on what we net after PP cut.

Did you actually read the terms of service of either site when you opened your accounts? I'm not sure what you think they're hiding.
