This topic has been covered before at a high level, but maybe the newspaper article from the San Francisco Call, 4 May 1909, adds some color and begs some questions.

1. Should the formal designation of this T206 subject be "Chase (Holding Cup)" instead of "Chase (Holding Trophy)"?

2. What became of this "loving cup"? Has it been heard of or seen since? Would Hal Chase have simply discarded it?

Supposedly, the cup was in the posession of a pawn shop owner at one point in time (during Chase's lifetime) and then never seen again. I forget where I read that, but could probably dig it up if I had to.

As an aside, TEN errors in the game between N.Y. and Philly?

Either some really bad fielding or some really tough scoring!

And when did the word "signalized" go out of vogue?

Nice piece of memorabilia if it ever turns up.
