I saw on his son's FB page that long-time Washington state hobbyist Bud Obermeyer has passed away.

Bud ran some really fun shows in the 1990's which many of us at Beckett attended and always saw good dealers and heard great stories.

Whenever I saw him in later years, it was always fun to talk about the good times

I will miss him

I never had the opportunity to meet Bud in person but knew him for many years through the ebay chatboard. He was truly a kind man always helping out collectors where he could. I personally learned a lot from him and will miss his sound advise.

Only knew Bud from eBay sports forum. He was a great resource person for me. Always willing to share his knowledge. He will be missed.

Sad news indeed. Condolences to his friends and family.
Like Herb, we knew Bud only from the old eBay forum -- but we engaged often with him there,
and he was always among the friendlier, most reasonable, and most helpful personalities
in that entertaining little madhouse.

Rich,Thanks for posting. Bud promoted a number of shows in Bellevue Washington back in the 90's. He did a lot to help promote the hobby in that region. Will certainly miss him. I'll send Jeff a private note..Mark

I believe I purchased some cards once from Bud on Ebay, but had more contact with his son Jeff concerning Obak cards about 15 years ago. Heartfelt best wishes to Jeff and the family.

Definitely this thread deserves to be at least momentarily above the Rosen thread, as it is clear they resided on different ends of the humility and respect for others spectrum.

Very sad....I corresponded quite a bit with Bud over the last 10 years or so, initially on eBay...then via email. Really nice guy and very knowledgeable. He helped me complete several late 60's and early 70's sets. Always gave me a great deal. Very sorry to hear this.
