Hello, I have a c1910 real photo post card of a Cincinnati Red in uniform. The uniform looks authentic for that era. Does anyone know who it is? He looks very young. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thank You, Brian

Hello Brian,

I have flipped the picture and included a head shot. A scan of the back of the postcard might be helpful with regards to dating the postcard and player.

It looks like the home uniform for the seasons 1902 through 1904; after that they did not have CINCINNATI spelled out on the chest. I do not recognize the player.

The players mouth and nose remind me of Miller Huggins. He'd have been around 25 years old in 1903. He was only 5' 6" tall so the height looks pretty good.
Unfortunately, pics of Hug usually show him much older or he's got his hands at this face.

It's a quess, but it's all I have. I'm sure all the eye, ear, nose specialists will chime in now.

I bet it is a University of Cincinnati player or a town team that used the same uniforms. This was very common at the time and I know for example that NYU used the same uniforms as the Giants for years etc. The setting and youth of the player lean in that direction.

It's not Huggins. Agreed with Rhys, college or town team. Guessing it has a divided back as well.

I also agree with Rhys, it's not the professional Cincinnati Reds. There might even be another part of a logo on the jersey behind his hands.

Absolutely not Huggins. Rhys is likely correct.
