When I was a kid I bought a lot of 78 79 and some 80, but I had found ACDC, Van Halen and Led Zeppelin by that November, so cards no longer seemed important :-D I had a bunch of 72s and 73s as a kid but very few from other years for football, which was probably 2/3 of the size of my old baseball cards. I lost them all years ago in a move, or I should say they were probably stolen. I had the Staubach rookie and a bunch of others, sigh.

So far I've contemplated collecting the 78-80 sets for nostalgia's sake, and maybe the 72 and 73 sets, but I haven't pulled the trigger on anything. Adding: outside of the 72s, the football card designs of the 70s are kind of lacking IMO.

I do football as well as baseball, hockey too, all concentrated in the '70s as far as sets and then older vintage stars from all three.

I have a few hundred football cards but don't actively collect them anymore. I do collect Wanderlei Silva MMA cards and pick up a few singles of other fighters once in a while.

I ripped football wax for a few years in the latter half of the 60s. Still have them. But as another member states above, once I turned 18...

I have exactly two football cards in my collection. Both are of HOFer Billy Shaw and both are signed by him. He is a friend of mine who lives in my town so if I come across a cheep one I pick it up. Extremely nice person with great stories as you could imagine.

Mostly baseball, and soley Japanese modern cards, but I do have a 1979 Topps Football set and am working (slowly) on the 1975 Topps football set. I also have football sets of Cotton Bowl cards, 30+ 1951 Bowman football, and 3-4 Dallas Cowboys Police sets...

For sets, I only collect baseball. I do have player collections of Terry Bradshaw and Julius Erving (along w/Reggie Jackson, my favorite players as a kid).

When I got back into card collecting in the early '80's - my second childhood - I began with the sets I could recall as a kid, which were almost all baseball from the early '50's. The only football still faintly hanging on in my memory was a set I really loved at first sight as a 6/7/8-year-old, and the one thing I could recall about it thirty years on was that the front side had a large pennant with the player's name in it. Card shows were the only place to see vintage cards back then, and I stumbled upon a dealer who dealt almost exclusively in football and allowed me to flip through his albums until I found the 1952 Bowman sets and slipped back through time in gazing at those beautiful near-mint cards. Luckily, even the large cards were still reasonably priced at that time, so I spent the next few months putting together the set in near mint, and it wasn't until about five years later that I became aware of the so-called short prints and scarcities in the set. Still get a lot of enjoyment out of looking at the set many years later.

I've completed the 1970, 1975 and 1977 Topps FB sets as I had collected those cards as a kid. Will probably start the 1973 set once I complete a couple of the baseball sets I'm working on. Also working on the 71-72 basketball set as I'm partial to some of the photos in that set - especially the ones with the big hair and backward jerseys.

Great Basketball Card! I always like the looks of the old shool basketball cards, what a difference in the uniforms compared to the modern day NBA teams.
