First time in a long time I have been able to add anything to my 1971 Bucs Collection. I picked up this gorgeous 1970-71 Gene Clines jersey from Net54 member Clint (ksfarmboy). Many thanks Clint I couldn’t be happier! As far as I can tell there are six versions of this pin and a Zum Zum vendor version. I believe that with this 2.5” pin I now have all seven. These four team issued 1971 photos bring my total to 34 different individual team members. I believe I now have all of them unless Coach Frank Oceak has a photo I am unaware of. His head shot in the Baltimore World Series program has a background all others do not. This leads me to believe that this shot was added solely for the World Series program. There may be head shots of Frank Brosseau and a Frank Tavares out there I am unaware of. Brosseau pitched two innings and faced five batters in 1971 and Taveres never came to bat and debuted on September 25th which was game #159. Due to these factors they may not have included head shots of either player. However Rimp Lanier batted four times in 1971 and there was a team issued photo featuring his image. If you have seen Brosseau and Taveres 1971 head shots I would love to hear from you!

Congratulations on the Clines jersey pickup. It's in nice shape. So many Pirates jerseys of that era have letters and numbers that are a bit washed out (and sometimes replaced) because of later use. While I suppose the Pirates can be blamed (or credited, depending on your point of view) for ushering in the era of pullover knit jerseys, I'm very nostalgic for some of those '70s era designs and like the "old gold" and black combination. And, of course, that particular jersey design brings back so many great memories of some fantastic Bucco players and teams.

Completely agree.... It is soooooo hard to find one of these in nice game-used (and unaltered) condition. And yours, of course is a beauty.

Was lucky enough to run across this baseball near where I live…Turns out it is a 1948 Rockford Peaches Championship baseball…signed by 17 including Bill Allington the manager…I know it is 1948 because it is signed by a player named Marge Stefani who only played in 8 games total with the Peaches…Nice addition to my room!

Wow, nice Peaches ball! 1948 was the only year the ball was 10 3/8" in circumference. It was 11" in 1946-47 and it was reduced to 10" (with red and black stitching I think) in 1949.

Picked these two items in Huggins and Scott. Acquiring the season pass was a long-time goal of mine and to get it at the price I did (they normally sell north of $15k these days) was especially good fortune.

I had seen several Bob Feller Orange Ice Cream ads but I had never seen the fudgsicle version.

I just picked up this terrific vintage signed Vandy Goldsmith ball that originates from his historic 1938 season in which he pitched consecutive back-to-back no-hitters.

The provenance that accompanies it and the boldness of signature really set it apart as being exceptional and a perfect fit for my personal collection. The fact that Goldsmith's base of operations was in Cincinnati is an additional bonus.

Many thanks to net54's Chris Gamble for offering it to me. Friendships are what make the collecting hobby special and fun. :)

Have already looked in the 1953 and 1954 Yearbooks as well as the News of Reds from 1953. My sensing is this is more of civic (town) or organizational (company) effort as opposed to one organized by the 1953 Cincinnati Redlegs. Also no mention of anything in the Sporting News or for the 1953 entries in Rhodes & Snyder "Redleg Journal."

No, me either. I also thought it was cool that it was issued to Elmer Steele, a pitcher for them who was released on September 16th after throwing a towel in Fred Clarke's face. That's probably why the tickets remained. He got picked up by Brooklyn.

I have tried to obtain this poster 3 or 4 times over the last few years since it first showed up but always got outsniped on ebay, or outbid in an auction house.

I think it found its forever home. :)

Picked up the '23 Senators team photo. Features Walter Johnson.
My reason for picking it up?, only photo of George Gibson in a Washington uni I've ever seen.

Marty, that 1923 Senators team photo is a nice pickup! I never knew that George Gibson was a coach with the Senators for that one year. FYI, I collect type cards, and I prefer to have Senators' players/coaches for my types. A couple of my tougher type cards are of Gibson, and now I will no longer look to replace them.

Rob, very nice cdv! I was going to bid on that lot just because of this one. It reminds me of some of the player outfits and stances in the 1865 Creighton woodcut.

Hey Dan, I've always wondered, I know you have a Nebraska connection with your long-time collecting focus but do you also have a Native American connection to it?

I am 1/16th Native American. My great great grandmother was 100% Cherokee. I have never identified as NA though, nor would I have known if I hadn't found the papers and photos in my grandmother's stuff years ago.

That's not the reason I collect Native American baseball though. I just branched out from collecting the Nebraska Indians ball team memorabilia. All the research led me to want to expand.

Thanks for asking.

Two recent eBay photo purchases:

1) Sal "The Barber" Marglie original pitching action photo from his no-hitter on 9/25/56 against the Phillies.

2) An original snapshot of HOF Bob Feller warming up on the sidelines prior to what I believe is the 1st HOF game at Cooperstown in 1939. The 1st HOF game featured a combination of former MLB stars as well as current players.
In 1940 the HOF game format was changed to feature two different ML teams. Many thanks to net54's own Jim Stinson.

I was amazed to find this mid 19th century hand colored lithograph "Cricket Match, Tonebridge School" at an antique/ flea market store today. It measures, with the frame, 45"x 27". When I saw it I took a picture of it and sent it to my wife. When I told her it was $50, she said "get it". It has already replaced the hunting scene litho we had in our family room. In person, the colors are just stunning. Not early baseball, but close. Also, Dave: Those A's pieces are just outstanding! Love the KC A's, as well.

I do not use photobucket so pardon me for asking. Is it cloud storage? If so, do you put photos there using your computer? If that is the case you could probably save your photos in a file on your hard drive. If you are scanning your photos it would be very easy to send them to a scan folder. The same would be true if you use a digital camera and download onto your computer. They can be sent to a folder.

Yep, when uploading your photos, there should be a picture file they go to?

From there, I send them (right click) to "MY Documents" and use "My Documents" to upload them to Net54 using Leon's "Manage Attachments" link below every thread/post you start or reply in.

I likely have a 100 picture files alone filled with likely a thousand pictures or more. I can easily open any file/folder, click on a pic and open it up to view or right click on it before enlarging it and send it to "My Documents" or wherever I choose.
