View Full Version : Is this the best PSA 1 you could find?

I forgot I had this and it is graded a PSA 1. As you can see, the front is very nice. The reverse is also very nice but has a thin layer of glue residue that is difficult to see in a scan. There is no paper loss.

Now I have a question. If a card has a stain (something added to the card that cannot be removed) and it grades a PSA 6st, then why would this not get a grade of PSA 6st ? The glue residue is simply a stain that cannot be removed.

Just curious on the thoughts of people with more knowledge than me.

Thanks,
Robert

Card looks like it has a pinhole at the top or left side. A pinhole is an automatic Poor 1 on PSA's grading scale.

I went over the entire card and there is no pin hole. The mark on the left side is an ink spot.

If you search for PSA 1s and 2s, you can find all sorts of great deals. I particularly like the ones that look like 7s, but have a little glue, writing or paper loss on the backs. This is an area where grading fails to accurately rate a card's condition. Not all 1s and 2s are created equal. I've seen 1s and 2s I'd rather have than some 4s or even 5s.

Would you think this could grade a bit higher if resubmitted?

I am going to say no, but even if it did, I would say you wouldn't get any higher than a 2, so, imo, it doesn't really make it worthwhile.

Thanks for the input gentlemen. Greatly appreciated.

I think I see a couple spots of paper loss on the bottom. Still a pretty harsh grade. I do think it might grade higher if you sent it in now, but even if you get a PSA 2.5, it probably isn't worth the time and money to send it in.

Showing a misgraded card doesn't make your point unless your point was there are misgraded cards out there.

Sorry for the bad quality pic but the 1's are razor sharp. The whole Cubs infield.
