View Full Version : A couple of AH questions

I have not bought or sold anything through an AH, but thinking about selling a few of my higher condition pre-war items using an AH. So all of my stuff is raw, so higher condition may be a relative term.

Do most AH charge a seller percentage of the sale?
Can you negotiate the seller's percentage?
When I send my cards to the AH? assuming I need to insure them when shipped, but do AH's have insurance in case of loss or damage?
My cards are raw, would the AH send them in for grading? Who covers this cost?

Thanks in advance

Dean,

Here are general answers to most of your questions

1. Do most AH charge a seller percentage of the sale?

NO, most do not, although some do.

2. Can you negotiate the seller's percentage?

Yes, depending on the desirability of the material, the better the cut.

3. When I send my cards to the AH? assuming I need to insure them when shipped, but do AH's have insurance in case of loss or damage?

They should have insurance that not only covers your material while in their possession, but also during your shipping to them as well when they ship them to the winners.

4. My cards are raw, would the AH send them in for grading? Who covers this cost?

This is the most variable question, most will get them graded if the cards warrant it, the cost is sometimes born by the consignor but often by the AH and/or negotiable.
