Real or fake ? Any help would be appreciated
Matt

Not an expert but my first instinct is fake. Almost looks like someone tried to combine his auto now with his auto from the 1992 Little Sun card set.

Looks ok but not a expert

One thing I never understood, and I see it done increasingly frequently lately.
If you know you have no expertise on a subject, why offer your admittedly not-very-valuable opinion? I'm sure there are loads of not-very-knowledgable-about-Jeter-signatures folks the OP could have asked. But he posted here in order to tap in to those who know best.

Looks good to me, likely circa 1994-95 would be my guess.

Very true. After i gave my opinion i realized it wasnt the smartest comment. Hope the OP gets some knowledgeable advice

chris would be the authority on jeter obviously. i've asked him about lots of jeters and trying to learn myself but i've never quite seen this style. looks like it could be his transition sig between the '92 classic and '94 signature rookies...it has characteristics of both.

never seen this type of sig, but i like alot about it, so i'd buy it if the price is right. just my opinion tho.

Some people are very familiar with signatures but don't want some guy going off their sole opinion, so they say they aren't an expert but. I don't see the problem with that. If I saw a Mattingly signature I'm pretty sure I could tell you if it was real or not but I don't want you betting the farm on me. Same goes for a variety of people with a variety of signatures. Anyone willing to help should be thanked.

Even when the help is--by the author's own admission--worthless?

There have been loads of times I could have posted "I don't know jack-shit about this, but I think it's bad. You're welcome."

I agree.. ANY opinion is welcome . I'm pretty good with modern jeter autos, but this one was tough for me to decide on.. some parts I liked and some I did not.

Hate to be a party pooper, but I have concerns about this Jeter. I wouldn't touch it for my collection.

Very stiff, drawn look. Sinking baseline... the whole thing looks cockeyed.

+1

From the moment I looked at it I didn't like it.

I'm late to the party, but there are a few things I don't like as well.

What really gave it away to me is the curvature or bend of the graph from the Derek to the Jeter.

Typically, this happens with a carefully planned auto that tends to be forged. With what I have observed.

Edited too add: should have just +1'd Zipper lol

The person who penned it didn't do a bad job.

They attempted to replicate a 1995-cica Jeter autograph.

Interesting observation about the curving of his name. I would not have realized that .. Thanks!

i don't think the curve has anything to do with it, the card below has a curve and i've seen other sigs of his curve. again i've never seen this combination of his sig before, but it's not necessarily bad. there's alot to like here, and i asked in a pm to the OP if he can show me where the source is but haven't gotten a response.

I agree on alot to like about it. It's atypical and quite possibly an in person sig I feel. The curvature could possibly be due to signing in person standing up, maybe not signing on a flat surface? Hard to say, but if it is a forgery, I don't think I've ever seen one quite like it of this early Jeter style. I would lean towards real. Seeing a picture of the complete item and a more clearer/less blurry picture would help if possible. I wouldn't bet my life on it either way being real or fake but my gut would lean towards it being real.

Some somewhat similar examples from 94-95... in the 95 versions you can see the last name plane line drop down some too.

The guy selling it has been slow to respond . He offered it to me in package with other Jeter items (non auto ) I told him I would buy the group and I haven't heard from him since .. Sorry if I missed your PM

Nice batch of cards.

I have the regular signed 94, but none of the inserts. And if that 1 of 5000 is an 8x10 I don't think I've ever seen one.

None of those above are mine, forgot to mention. I was just searching for other examples.
