13 3/4" and 14 1/4" long
I picked these up in an antique store today...the price tag said they were juggling pins...so I'm looking them over and an English guy that was there shopping said they looked like rounders bats...said he played rounders as a kid and that's what he thought they were...my first thought when I spotted them was policemans billy club....but no wrist strap and not real weighty like filled with lead...the checking and patina screams 19th century....what say the constituency?

If they aren't billy clubs they could be used as such. Neat items..

Thanks Jim...I had to look up what a Belaying pin is...However after looking at a bunch of photos on google images, link above, I don't think they are belaying pins...There would be a stop on the neck...or to put it another way the narrower handle part would be longer...

And I looked at photos of seal clubs...all the ones I saw were quite a bit longer, link above to images....so I'm crossing that one out too...

Nevertheless thanks for your input...

They both look like a old wooden pestle to me.

After looking up some photos, I think they may just actually be 19th century Rounders bats. My main concern would be the length though. I would expect them to be more like 18 inches. These may have been closer to 15 inches at some time before shrinkage but that is still pretty short.
