I have come across 2 old looking postcards that are slightly smaller than a standard modern post card. One is of Honus Wagner and the other of John McGraw. Both are in uniform and in a large stadium I can't identify. The Ty Cobb has largely printed script saying "Cobb' and is glued to poster board and I cannot see the back. Does anyone recognize these cards? I appreciate any help .I can't get the pictures up but will email them if requested. thanks Tom Sims

I can't help figure out what these are, but I can help post the pictures!

Hi-
I am not an expert, so hopefully others will correct me when I am wrong, but I believe these are from the late 1960s/70s at the earliest. The first two images remind me of the Bert Sugar post cards from the 1970s that had really cool seldom seen images of WWI era players. I apologize if I am wrong but that is my opinion on these items.

The AZO postcard stock dates them to 1907 to 1918.

Those look legit to me. Early 1900s real photo postcards. Likely one of a kind, taken by a fan who had them printed with a postcard back. Let the PM's fly. :D

edited to add: The Cobb looks like a snapshot photo glued to a board.

Hi-
I do apologize for being wrong above, but the first two images do really look like the Sugar post cards I mentioned. Did they all come together? Assuming they did, congratulations on the find!

Just noticed as I was doing my monthly search of the highest priced postcards sold on ebay and saw these were sold earlier this month for a nice price.

Would have grabbed them if it weren't for the severe trimming.

"Tried to figure out managers name" - from the ebay ad.
Guess he did not do very much research.
The seller is selling musical instruments and other items.

I think his photo might just be cropped off?

Yeah, they do not appear to be trimmed to me.

edited to add...I just scrolled through the ebay photos and they are definitely way short. They don't appear trimmed from the photos he posted here.

Nah, he sent me measurements and better pics when he first posted here.

Yep, they are almost an inch short looking at the ebay photos.

Gotcha. One of the photos looked cut off but if you got measurements and better pics so be it. I think I was sleeping on those. :(

I was the underbidder on those. I thought I'd be the only bidder, quite honestly. I had never seen AZO postcards that were that oversized before (they didn't look trimmed to me, just cropped weird).

Anyway, I identified McGraw and thought it was interesting that the and Wagner were both photographed from the same spot at the stadium (presumably on the same day).

I didn't know these postcards had been posted on Net54 last year...

Clearly trimmed. If you look at the last photo on his auction the postcard only measures 4.5" tall. It is a full inch short of a standard size postcard.

Okay, I didn't pay much attention to the measuring tape, but I see that now. Isn't the postcard back kind of odd then??? It looked oversized to me based on the back. Has anyone ever seen that before? As Leon mentioned previously, were the cards simply miscut?

I'd expect the AZO stamp box and the "Post Card" wording to be much higher on the card...
