I obtained a Charles Murphy signed letter from 1919. Cant find any examples looking at auction results other then a Cubs signed ticket booklet.

How tough is his autograph and what kind of demand is there for him compared to his contemporaries - Shibe, Dreyfuss, Navin, etc.?

Thanks in advance for any insight anyone can give.

Not a HOFer. But....BUT...he was the owner for the Cubs last World Series victory. He died in the 1930's I believe. I had two and they were tough to price. They were on player movement contracts during his time with the Cubs. Want to say I got around $400 or thereabouts for each one. Took a little while to sell both. Not a tremendous demand. But there is some demand.

I had a Murphy signature cut from a letter that I purchased in 1996 , and that has been the only Murphy signature that I have ever seen . If you have a letter especially a HLS it would be rare but not excessively valuable . Certainly there's a market for his signature . I agree with Tom , he is certainly not a HOFer.
I would love to see you post a picture of it .

Here is an image of the letter. Pretty sure trimmed on the sides. Still on scrapbook page. Content is congratulating sportswriter for being elected to the Baseball Writer's Association as the Chicago representative succeeding Bill Veeck. Appears to be a draft with edits. Please let me know if it appears consist with your examples
