Hello All,

I was watching this auction last week, but ultimately decided not to bid.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-1909-1911-T206-Bill-Clymer-Columbus-Baseball-Card-/122083926710?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&nma=true&si=AY4s%252BXwrdgLcK%252BFJNLk54Kj0VOY%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

I'm curious to what those more knowledgable than myself think about the card. I'm asking mainly to learn...is this a legit card or something that has been doctored?

Thanks,
Ron

Agreed, looks OK to me. I admit that I did spend a little time looking at the upper left corner.

Looks OK to me, taking into account the super-bright scan.

I did also check to see if the seller was Battlefield.

The bright scan might be what was making me a little uneasy. I've heard that rough edges and corners tend to have a brownish look to them, which I couldn't see on those scans. My other T206 cards all show the brownish corners. I'm not really familiar with bleached cards, so I didn't know if that was possibly at play. I thought maybe I had stumbled onto a deal, since "Carolina Brights" wasn't mentioned in the title, but as the price rose, my comfort level with the authenticity wasn't strong enough to hang around. Maybe I should've bid, in hindsight...

Looks good. Nice and bold printing on back. Looks like some paper loss bottom reverse, so wouldn't grade too high...but great example. Assuming it would grade a 2 or 3, it did go low.

That's not a scan, it is a image taken by hand. You can tell by the drop shadow along the left border - a scanner lid would have flattened out the card, plus that's a wood tabletop(?) in the background. Then imported into an image editor where the owner got carried away with brightness, contrast and sharpen filters. I'm not saying it was done maliciously - I think the card is good too - just someone overeager to present their card in a nice light

Great card and nice deal for the buyer. Probably for the seller too since they didn't even realize the back was a big deal.

Good buy most likely, though I think Clymer is one of the more common CB backs (though it is all relative...). The things that would have given me pause were the colors, which can be easily explained on the scan, and the fact that few of their sales are vintage.

The card is real, but does have condition issues. I see several wrinkles on the back and what appears to be an indentation. The white corner effect may be a photo shop issue or it could have a bit of white out added in. If the corners haven't been treated it would most likely end up as a PSA 2, which would put the value around $600 as Johnny mentioned.
Be well Brian

Card may be good, I'm no T206 expert. But there are too many flags to where I probably wouldn't have bid, at least that high. The bright scan and it's by far his oldest card sold. Plus with that much corner rounding I'd expect at least to see a wrinkle, maybe even a small crease. He also has some fifties cards with pristine sharp corners and some Mantles that look 'unusual' to me.
