There are some sets (Tango Eggs, Diamond Stars, in recent years E98s) that seem to be near mint of better most of the time. I'd like to compile a list of sets from the other end of the spectrum, those types that are most often found in poor condition. Let's disqualify any sets that don't have at least a few dozen total examples and anything that can be found in better than good condition at least 10% of the time. What does that leave?

T216 (Kotton thin paper, Virginia Extra)
Lections
most (?) of the Cuban types

What else?

The E220 National Caramel issue might make your list, because not only are they found commonly beat up (on par with the other 1920's candy issues), but most often are found with wildly cut borders, narrow, way off-center, etc. Anything above Good condition is way out of the norm.

Just from what I have observed, which is an admittedly small sample size, Zeenuts seem to be beaten up and/or missing coupons most of the time.

those strip cards... oh dang it I can't remember the name, but they look like hand drawn cartoon faces of players (and not very good ones) and had to be hand cut into individual cards which results in nearly all of them being off center and wonky.

T213-1 - I think the highest graded card is a 4 and there aren't many that are better than 2.

sorry for quoting myself here, but I remembered what cards I was referring to: W514 set

And I saw that one of those 4s just sold on the BST this week.

Not mine anymore but the Deportvo Caramelo sets are notoriously lower grade....

The three E104 sets would have to be up there, as well as E103.

For some reason the 1933 (R337) Eclipse Import cards always seem to be in lower grades with only a few good examples every once in a blue moon.

Oh, and forgot about S74-1 white silks with advertising backs attached. They were all folded before putting them into the cigarette packs so virtually everyone has a big crease across the middle.
