I recently acquired this 1962 Topps Bucks Mickey Mantle graded Mint 9 (OC) by PSA. I am trying to figure out how to value it and was hoping to get some input from you all. It's tough trying to find comps on this issue.

PWCC sold this one on 5/12/2016. This one is a straight PSA 8 with no qualifiers and it sold for over $2,700.00. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1962-Topps-Bucks-SETBREAK-Mickey-Mantle-PSA-8-NM-MT-PWCC-/401114960760?hash=item5d64509378:g:ms4AAOSw2GlXJ7d V

This one also sold on 5/12/2016. This one is a PSA 9 (OC) like mine, however, it was a best offer asking $495.00 and sold for $460.35. http://www.ebay.com/itm/PSA-9-OC-MICKEY-MANTLE-1962-TOPPS-BUCKS-NEW-YORK-YANKEES-BASEBALL-CARD-MINT-RARE-/322075214408?hash=item4afd2dc248:g:oowAAOSwZ8ZW6Ml O

Those are the only two recent sales on eBay that I could find for ones that are graded by PSA.

According to PSA's pop report, there are 0 Gem Mint 10s, 0 Mint 9s, and 5 Mint 9s with a qualifier - so mine is one of the five highest graded out of the 82 total Mantles PSA has ever graded.

Does the OC qualifier really hurt the value of this that much, even if none are graded higher? Did the seller of the other Mint 9 (OC) let his go for too cheap? What does everyone think is a fair value on mine?

Also, I was considering consigning mine to PWCC to see what kind of success I have, would it be worth my time or is $450-$500 a correct value on it? If so, I'll probably just sell it myself on eBay.

Let me know your thoughts!

Actually, yours is tied with 15 others for 7th highest graded. There are 6 PSA 8's which grade higher. $450 to $500 seems about right.

Okay so, as far as the pop reports, PSA 9 OC grades lower than a PSA 8? I'm confused.

A qualifier knocks it down 2 grades. A 9OC is equivalent to a PSA 7, at least according to PSA's formula. $500 seems right.

If it were me, I would go to the PSA registry and look through the sets to see whose would be upgraded by your copy. Then some of them will have their settings so you could email them directly. Saves on eBay fees.

Looks like the #8 master set could use your item. If they're not interested, you could contact 15, 17, 18, 19
