Hrabosky Set For 35 Years

Al Hrabosky, the "Mad Hungarian" who became a free agent after pitching for the Kansas City Royals two seasons, yesterday signed a five-year pact with the Atlanta Braves that will provide money long after the 30-year-old reliever steps permanently from the mound.

Terms were not disclosed but Hrabosky said the agreement includes deferred payments. It has been estimated those payments will total $5.9 million over 35 years.

Hrabosky indicated a verbal agreement with Braves owned Ted Turner allows for the colorful left-hander to work for Turner's WTBS cable television station as a sportscaster when his playing days are over.

'The Mad Hungarian' was released by the Braves on August 30, 1982.
