What do y'all think of this "rare" card?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1952-BOWMAN-23-BOB-LEMON-Cleveland-Indians-PSA-3-VG-Rare-HOFer-/201111394609?hash=item2ed32c5931:g:8zkAAOSw-nZTonWG

At least the "holder is mint".

And come to think of it....... if this card was "just graded", wouldn't the label have the PSA Hologram on the front and the white strip with the bar code on the reverse?

From some other threads I have read, PSA is still using the old slabs for cards just graded.

If you could establish a hobby definition for rare what would it be ? How about scarce ?

I'd say anytime I can find 118 of your item on eBay alone, it's not rare. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160625/41911db88387664afad42d02025b661d.jpg

The following definitions are found on eBay itself.
See link ----> http://http://www.ebay.com/gds/Baseball-Cards-Term-Guide-by-Brian-Cataquet-/10000000002324072/g.html

"RARE CARD" - Expression used for one of a kind cards that are impossible to find in any condition and have a non existent presence in our hobby in relation to the cards that you see frequently. Years may pass before seeing one.

SCARCE - A card or series that are difficult to find but not impossible. These cards do appear but not frequently nor in large quantities.

Charles-- much appreciate you pointing those out. I was not aware of them. They sound pretty reasonable to me. How would folks apply them to these, or if they do not apply, what other term might ?

The scarce definition is ok, the rare definition is a train wreck. This coming from someone who has collected both rare and scarce cards, as Al and many other board members have.

Just stick whatever "hype" is selling into your title and away you go, on ebay. I am focused on nicely centered cards especially post war ones. Sellers know this... (and his grading is a little out of whack too)

I think that guys definitions are bogus. Anything that has a 50/50 shot or less of being available on eBay at any given time might qualify as either rare or scarce in my book. And that's just in terms of the item existing in any grade and by Any grader. I'm sure the industry has tighter standards, but that's how I thought about it up until now.
