It's unreal. I've seen a few of his cards at the National in Chicago 3 years ago. Such amazing history

He spent alot on the DBacks this offseason as well. Im glad he displays all those nice cards for the public instead of them never seeing the light of day.

He says that he has high end versions of 16 of the 20 most valuable cards (not all baseball). So what are they?

T206 Wagner
T206 Plank
52 Topps Mantle
Cobb/Cobb

Beyond that I don't really know. Some of the cards from the Old Judge NY Giants set?

I don't know exactly what is in Kendrick's *entire* collection, but I know there were 41 cards in the Phoenix Art Museum exhibit.
I took a few pics, I wish I had taken one of all of them so I would not miss or forget any that were there. I will admit to being a bit star struck (especially by condition )
I'll eventually remember or figure out the other 7 cards, but I jotted down these 34 below...
These were SPECTACULAR!

1915 Cracker Jack Ty Cobb
1933 Goudey Lou Gehrig #37 portrait
1934 Goudey Nap Lajoie

He's only missing 4 of the highest graded cards in the top 20 sportscards list.
The 4 he doesn't have in the highest grade:

Wilson Franks ted Williams
nagurski rookie
George Milan rookie

Thanks to the photo gallery, I added 6 more to the list, which now sits at 40.

See post # 10 above with the updated list.

Since there are both high and low numbers of the 1938 Goudey DiMaggio card, I am not sure if I counted the cards to 41 while I was star struck looking at the collection in person!
I'll either recount or give up and call it 40:cool:

So, while I know that these are the top condition cards extant for these classic cards, and my (soon to be 15 after BST auctions) versions are all very low grade....how many do you guys have?

Aw, why don't we just ask Frank to create a Kendrick Monster Number Thread?

Yes:
T206 wagner
1952 mantle
1916 M101 Ruth sporting news
1933 lajoie
1951 mantle
T206 plank
1986 fleer jordan
1951 mays
Cracker jack shoeless joe
1933 goudey ruth
1934 gehrig
Cobb Turkey
satchel paige rookie
t205 cobb
1954 aaron
1941 joe dimaggio

Just an unbelievable accomplishment to already own 16 of the top 20 in the highest grade!

I see. I didn't read the article and just saw the caption next to his smiling face.

Aside from the huge money cards I wonder if he collects any sets like the 1952 Topps or another marque set.

It looks like a quick read so I will check it out.

With as much money as he makes, I'm sure the answer must be yes. I mean, if he's a lover of cardboard, as we all are, he has to be collecting other things as well. I can only imagine what and in what condition. I'm sure it's awesome, whatever it is.

I loved his comment about having to assassinate someone to get the cards. I find it so interesting that the trading card hobby is one where even a guy who has a net worth in excess of a billion dollars can't just go out and acquire any card he wants.

I Don't Think So Johnny... Not that I know of,
Nor Could I find out if he had Any at All!
I would Not Doubt it though...
A Gentleman wit Moola like that has gotta have one... RiGHT!!!

There is a Gentleman that Resides in NYC,
The Last I Knew, He had Over 25 Proofs,
And that was over 10 years ago.
All of His Proofs Have the 4-6 Color Cross Hairs in the X-Y Axis,
"Remarkable Collection!"
I've email/Chatted wit Him for about 18 months back then.
He Bought my SL Jordan...
(The Only SL Proof that I know of, the one on OldCardboard!)
Mr. Jordan is what Brought us together.

Hmmm, I just check'd & Mr. Jordan is No Longer there!?

Does Anyone the Story...
About the Scans on Old Cardboard
& them No Longer Being There!?!?

Maybe The Gentleman wit the Proof Set Had it/them Pull'd?!?!
I Also Thought that He was the Winner of Leon's Matty!?

Anyone Know Who Won Leon's Proof of Mr. Mathewson?
Maybe KO?
Love to Find Out Aye!?
