View Full Version : Where have all the red HINDU cards been hiding for 70 years? Show us your red HINDU's

In the first issue (1962) of "The Sport Hobbyist", Frank Nagy lists the entire T206 set and its various backs. But, there is NO mention of the red HINDU back.

The 1st major book on T206's by Bill Heitman, "The Monster", briefly refers to a recent find (at its time of printing, 1980) of only 6 known red HINDU cards.

So....where have all the red HINDU cards been hiding for 70 years ?

This has mystified me since I first read Bill Heitman's The Monster back in 1981. Can anyone on this forum explain the absence of the red HINDU's for such
a long period....or at least offer a theory regarding this mystery ? ?

Hey guys
So far, there are 43 known red HINDU T206's. So show us your cards here, and let's see how close we can come to displaying most of them.

I will start this "parade" with red HINDU cards of my favorite two guys in the T206 set......

Thanks,

Hey guys......Thanks for posting your cards.

Continuing the "parade" of these rare HINDU's with Russ Ford.

Ford's first full season (1910) with the NY Highlanders, he won 26 games, while losing only 6.....and, an ERA = 1.65

Hey Ted, thinking back, I had a similar reaction the first time that I read the Heitmann book. It was 2002, when I first began collecting T206.

From the description, I thought that the Red Hindus were more rare than Uzit or Drum cards. I was surprised how easy it was to find a couple on ebay once I began collecting backs.

Hey Ted, here's a second Devore and a third Tannehill for this thread. I only have as many Red Hindus in my collection as I do BL460s and Black Lennox, which gives an idea of how rare they are. No guys, I am not interested in parting with them, unless it's a trade for a Wagner, Plank, or Doyle :)

tedzan

Sean and Craig

Any given day on ebay there will be 3, 4, or 5 red HINDU's listed.

Invariably, these cards will be subjects from the group of T206 cards I have designated as the "Exclusive 12" (460-only series). These 12 red
HINDU T206's are more available than the 31 subjects from the 350/460 series. The 350/460 guys are seldom seen on ebay with red HINDU
backs.

For example(s), the 12 red HINDU cards posted (so far) in this thread include an assortment of 9 guys from the Exclusive 12 group. And only
3 guys from the 350/460 series (2 of which are in the initial post here).

So, are red HINDU cards as rare as BROAD LEAF 460, LENOX, or UZIT ?

This depends on which T206 series cards that you are referring to......350/460 (perhaps)......460-only (no).
