View Full Version : Help: Older Flip on 1955 Clemente RC... is it real?

The flip just looks off to me.... I was wondering if anyone else shares my concern?

Font looks a little thin and a little extra spacing between the letters. Looks like an older flip that I'm not quite accustomed to seeing so my eyes may be tricking me.

Thanks for any help!

Do you have a scan of the back? I know the back can also help date the flip. There is a great thread on here someplace that shows all the different PSA flips through out the years.

I can't locate it this thread. I've seen it before as well.

Anyone able to post a link to it?

Thanks!

In mine, and all the ones I just looked at on ebay, the S in TOPPS ends slightly to the left of the L in CLEMENTE. The gap between 1955 and TOPPS looks bigger in the one posted.

I think you are OK. Here is an older one, with the grade and number on the same line, where the alignment looks like yours.

I'm thinking it was just an older copy made by PSA a few good years back...I would cross-check the PSA number on the card. Always a guarantee :) I believe it's somewhere on PSAcard.com.

The number is legit and the bar code is also legit.

I think it's real, but with a $3k card, I'd rather get the thoughts of the knowledgeable consensus.

Definitely reasonable. From what I've seen, I would give you the green light on this one.
Best of luck!

from the scans but you can not be too careful i would immediately send in for the beholder if you have concerns while in hand.

Agreed 100%. I think you're ok; looks like the real thing to me (and a beauty at that!), but I can't say definitively without having it in hand. I'd want to have my loupe, and another '55 Topps to compare it to.

Send it in to have it looked at, and put into the new slab. And please, let us know what PSA tells you.
