In celebration of Hank Aaron's 82nd birthday, show us a cool piece of memorabilia
relating to the Hammer. Here's a couple of mine. I wrote to him many years ago.
Like a gentleman, he signed for me. In my note I asked him what his most
memorable feat on a baseball diamond was. This was his response.

Was fortunate enough to see Hank hit a homer in defunct Atlanta-Fulton Co. stadium.

Date was July 3, 1970. 2nd game of a doubleheader and I can't recall who the pitcher was.

Did a quick research:
#578 off Pat Dobson

Hard to imagine it could have been anything else except the record breaker. After all the buildup including an offseason it must have been surreal.

Still buying cards and not a scanner, but I have his '54 Johnston Cookies rookie in PSA EX (looks for all the world a solid EXMt--can't imagine what the graders saw that I can't). Had his '54 Topps rookie until about 5 years ag0--wish I would have kept it!

Also got his autograph at a large, local card show, and he was kind enough to spend some time discussing his book, "I had a hammer," with me. Not only a fabulous player, but a true gentleman in all respects!

Highest regards, guys,

Larry

Great card Neal - don't think I've seen that before.

Still remember buying it back in the 1980's, for many years the most expensive card I purchased - and worth it.

And a 1974 TIME magazine contest entry by famous photographers Henry Groskinsky and Ralph Morse that shows a time lapse of the entire 755 hit. Bought this from a former long time Time magazine editor. This is one of a few known originals which were only given to select TIME magazine editors
