Some very high bids last night on some HOF t206s PSA 4 and 5, not special backs. Not across the board by any means--many of the t206 prices very average--but some must have set records with $350-450 for several PSA 4s and, geez, $850 for a Tinker hands on knees PSA 5. Even a Fred Clarke PSA 4 got $360. Maybe just one buyer getting started--or maybe the premium-for-centered trend is building....

Not sure on the T206s but I will pay a good premium for centered cards I want....

I though the Goudey Gehrig (OC) was beautiful and a good investment piece. Stunning card and while OC is a pretty magnificent 9.

Greg: I noticed the same thing on some lots. Had to bow out on principle when a Tinker PSA 4 Bat Off reached $375. But then I was surprised to win a PSA 4 Chance for roughly half that amount. Kind of a head scratcher. I agree with Leon; I think the "centering premium" is increasing. Also, can someone explain the high prices of Mordecai Brown?

I picked up a Gandil AB 460 for what I thought was a fair price, but the PSA 5 Piedmont went surprisingly high.

The Mordecai t206s have always earned some sort of premium, but the portrait is going bonkers rights now (sort of like the Tinker hands on knees)...

In both cases unusually beautiful cards, is that helping to cause? And centering. Since I've long been a nut on both those things I applaud this, but it doesn't seem to help a lot of other t206s. When see the Bresnahans and Duffys and Kelleys go for $250 for PSA 4 then we'll know it's general trend...

no idea on the brown.. a psa 4 brown very similar a week ago ended on ebay for 350 or so......I guess whoever bid a LOTG doesn't check ebay....

I guess sort of like everthing in life..if you want something now no matter what you pay a premium.if you willing to wait a few months you can get it a good price..besides the outliers like babe ruth rookie and mantle rookie .....it works with buying used couches..and works with t206 PSA common HOFs..

Maybe, maybe not. EBay has lost lots of buyers and sellers in recent years. Some collectors are ok with paying a premium to a reputable auction house rather than taking their chances at avoiding the various eBay horror stories that are frequently detailed on here.

There is essentially zero chance that an auction house like LotG is going to send a buyer an empty box or give a buyer a fake tracking number or cancel the sale or any other type of scam.

Well the seller for the ebay card in question has over 1000 feedback with the sale of many similar cards and prices in recent past sales...I don't think theres any difference in risk buying from that ebay seller or the LOTG auctions.....an ebay seller with zero feedback is a whole different animal..
