Did anyone else notice the prices of the 1973 Topps borderless candy lids that just ended on ebay? Very strong, to say the least. I was surprised by the price of the Munson, though Ryan and Yaz went for even more.

I'm convinced they were actually issued in 1973. If they were issued in 1972, Topps would have included Clemente and almost certainly would not have included Fisk. Regardless, they are rare, but the prices seemed very high in my humble opinion.

The 72s are transitional and the date is arbitrary, probably to differentiate from the issued 73s.

Agree with Dave. Who know the precise date they were created. But needed to distinguish from the 1973 issued product

I thought I had a full set of unfinished proofs at 55, but the last SCD Catalog seems to indicate the checklist may not be complete. Larry or Dave--55 to the set ?

Prices not surprising to me given scarcity and big names in set. Registry competition may have also been a factor

55 I think, but seem to recall one source being either +1 or -1 from that number. I paid $11 for my type example, quite happy with that deal.

Al,

If you have the proofs can I see a pic of your Brooksie? I have a few proofs ('73) of this issue, but don't have any of the progressive proofs regarding color separations.

I also agree that '72 doesn't necessarily mean that this was made then since it's a Topps test issue.

Also, if anyone here won the Brooks Robinson '72 Candy Lid I'm willing to give you $200 less than you paid for it (what a bargain).
