I thought I would never do it, but considering to send this Harrington to get graded, no creases clean back. The card measures 1-3/8" x 2-9/16". Just trying to justify sending it, that the card should be at a minimum of VG-EX anything less will not send just keep it raw.

Given how harshly PSA grades these days i think it will get a 3 or 3.5 at best. Just my opinion.
Nice card

Ron,

Why would it have to be Vg-Ex to be worth sending in? Even if it were to get a Gd-Vg (if it's truly authentic) then it would add instant legitimacy to the card.

If you were to put that on ebay raw (even if it were authentic), you would get little or no action on it unless you guaranteed it would be graded by PSA or SGC with a numeric grade. Even then, people would be hesitant to bid on it. If that were the case, then wouldn't it only make sense to have it authenticated so that you could maximize your income on the card. Now, if you aren't even considering selling the card then why would it matter if the card was graded VG-Ex vs Gd-VG?

Just curious.

I agree with Iron Horse, getting a 4 from PSA with those corners will be very tough, although 3.5 is possible. SGC might give it a 4, I've had them be more forgiving on corners when the rest of the card is in good shape.

Their is no way, no way, that would get close to a VG/EX.

Something doesn't look right on it either.
Why is there browning on all 4 corners, yet none on the left edge, or either top or bottom edge? Something doesn't feel right about this.

PSA 3 in my opinion, too much wrong with it to get any better.

Looks fine to me. Grading is so subjective you might get a 4 or you might get a 2.

Thanks for the reply . The surface at the corners are fraying

I could see a 4. Could you piggyback on someone's free renewal sub to reduce the cost of sending it in as a single card submission?

Is the cross-hatch pattern on the scan or the card. This is the only one I've owned and COMC says it's real. It seems to have a dotted printing pattern.

That looks like a half tone dot pattern just blown up from a lo-res scan

John, the scan caused the cross hatch

Please let us know if it comes back with a numerical grade. Good luck!

As was said, grading is so subjective it could be a 2 or a 4. I would have to guess a 3 to 3.5. Depending on your desires it is a card that should be slabbed due to value, imo. Nice card btw....

I would be happy with the card graded between the range of a 3 to 4. The card looks better in person than the scan shows. Have not mastered scanning yet.

On vintage it seems generally bvg has little to no condition waiver due to age, sgc gives the most and Psa seems to give some.

If it gets a numerical I would just guess -
Bvg - 2
Psa - 3
Sgc - 4

Nonetheless, I would say on a less well known card to the masses like this, the resale would be a third of the graded value and would be necessary to get a return if you want to move it in the future. Most less knowledgable collectors would need the grade to feel good about a purchase on something like this.
